I had lunch with Juan and his wife this week and they told me that Deli has nine siblings and they have collectively decided to sell the house that Juan and Deli live in, which belonged to Deli’s mother. This is a shock, but we don’t get to the bottom of where they’re going. Juan said they were going to live in the derelict house in the finca he’s established next to my house. He’s been renovating this since I’ve known him; it now has light, running water, a toilet, shower a large open grill and what must once have been a commercial oven; its enormous. He has acres of vegetables, hens and now rabbits. He’s the most resourceful man I think I’ll ever know, but as he’s 70 and it doesn’t have a full roof or what I would call ‘rooms’, I’m assuming he’s joking. Its hard to tell. The following day were were in Brico Centro, the local DIY shop, and they bought a large storage box, so it looks like the move is imminent.
